  • What is a Population Census?

  • A population census is the total process of collecting, compiling, evaluating, analysing and publishing or otherwise disseminating demographic, economic and social data pertaining, at a specified time, to all persons in a country or in a well-delimited part of a country.
  • What is a Housing Census?

  • A housing census is the total process of collecting, compiling, evaluating, analysing and publishing or otherwise disseminating statistical data pertaining, at a specified time, to all living quarters and occupants thereof in a country or in a well-delimited part of a country.

  • What is the de facto and de jure count of the population?
  • The total of all usual residents is generally referred to as the de jure population and the total of all persons present at the time of the Census as the de facto population or persons “present in the area” on Census Day.

  • What legal or statutory authority provides for the conduct of a census?

  • The Census Ordinance, Chapter 174 of the Revised Laws of the Turks & Caicos Islands, 14 May 1998, gives the legal power to conduct a census within the country. It gives the Governor legal power to instruct the taking of a census within the country at a specified date and time.

  • What is Census Day?

Swine Flu is a new influenza-like illness (ILI) first detected in Mexico on March 18, 2009. Swine Flu can be spread through contact with infected pigs or environments contaminated with the virus. Human-to-human spread has also been documented and is thought to be transmitted through droplet infection when an infected person coughs or sneezes.
