Sectoral and Island Sub-committees
As noted, the Steering Committee will be supported by twenty-seven policy-making sectoral and Island sub-committees.
Based on the existing challenges and issues in the society, and the features of the future society we may want to create, the following policy developing sectoral committees are proposed:

  • Taxation, revenue, and budgeting (the macro-economy)
  • Investment promotion and procurement – including small business
         development
  • Tourism – sun/beach, ecological, convention, health, and retiree
         segments
  • Financial and business services – not simply off-shore banking
  • Agriculture and food processing
  • Entertainment, gaming and craft
  • Physical planning, infrastructure, parks, and environmental protection
  • Housing
  • Education, skills training, and human resource development
  • Labour market regulations and full employment
  • Health and AIDS
  • Transportation and communication
  • Public utilities and energy
  • Poverty alleviation and welfare
  • Gender, youth and sport
  • Legal administration and justice.(ie police, courts, prisons, human &
         civil rights)
  • Governance –local and central, and institutional structures for
         development
  • Population, migration and citizenship
  • Science and technology

    Swine Flu is a new influenza-like illness (ILI) first detected in Mexico on March 18, 2009. Swine Flu can be spread through contact with infected pigs or environments contaminated with the virus. Human-to-human spread has also been documented and is thought to be transmitted through droplet infection when an infected person coughs or sneezes.
