Island Visits
Following the visioning exercise, the Consultants visited Salt Cay, South Caicos and Middle Caicos. In addition to touring these communities to view first-hand the condition and quality of physical and social infra-structure, in Salt Cay and South Caicos, well-attended visioning exercises
with members of the District Boards and other prominent community residents were held.

Elite Interviews
During their November 30 to December 12th, 2005 visit, the Kairi Team also held discussions with over 100 high ranking Government administrators. and other prominent persons throughout the Islands. Among the meetings and discussions were separate meetings with the Grand Turk and Providenciales Chamber of Commerce; a joint meeting with the managers of all the utilities providers in Providenciales, and separate meetings with the top administrators for Health, Education, DECR, Environmental Health, Culture, Youth and Sports, Labour, Disaster Management and Emergencies, AIDS and Drugs. Interviews were also conducted with Leaders in the Transport Sector. These managers were consulted on the main issues and challenges facing their sectors/departments, and their vision and recommendations for moving the sector forward over the next 10 years.

Sectoral and Island Sub-Committees
Unlike the Elite interviews which mainly involved the 3 or 4 most senior administrators in a department, the sectoral committees were conceived as broader forums for bringing together a wider cross-section of top managers in an area or sector to discuss the issues, vision and policy recommendation for the sector. Of 22 sector committees, 18 have been mobilized and very well attended and highly participatory first meetings have being held by 12 sub-committees as of writing. All sub-committees will have had their first meetings be February 3rd, 2005 and second meetings have being scheduled for several others to finish the job of discussing the issues and recommendations.

Kairi recently issued an Inception Report outlining their assessment of economic and social issues following these initial consultations and further fine-tuning their approach to the work to be completed. Based on their assessment the Kairi team have proposed that the main outputs of the planning exercise be the following instruments:

Swine Flu is a new influenza-like illness (ILI) first detected in Mexico on March 18, 2009. Swine Flu can be spread through contact with infected pigs or environments contaminated with the virus. Human-to-human spread has also been documented and is thought to be transmitted through droplet infection when an infected person coughs or sneezes.
