Chair and Co-Chair: Coordinating role given the expertise in the area of statistics; offer direction and advise, etc. Phases of one year and re-election.

Secretary: Rotational basis among members; takes minutes, circulates and finalize minutes among few members for checking, sends minutes to members one/two weeks after meeting and certainly before next meeting;

Duties and Responsibilities of Committee Members: submission of all data compiled to the Statistics Office whether they are currently being collected or not. Allow DEPS staff to assist with compiling and presenting data compiled at each office in automated format.


In order to meet the above objectives, the members of the committee are required to undertake the following tasks:

  • Attend all committee meetings and participate actively in discussions;


  • Establish standard definitions and methodologies to be used in
         calculating the selected indicators;


  • Collect the relevant data for their respective sector;


  • Construct the indicators relevant to their work;


  • Prepare narrative analyses which should accompany the published
         indicators;


  • Make and implement recommendations on how to standardize and
         improve the quality of data;


  • Continuous assessment in order to expand the list of indicators, as the
         need arises, and promote data collection in order to improve the
         information on new areas of concern;

    Swine Flu is a new influenza-like illness (ILI) first detected in Mexico on March 18, 2009. Swine Flu can be spread through contact with infected pigs or environments contaminated with the virus. Human-to-human spread has also been documented and is thought to be transmitted through droplet infection when an infected person coughs or sneezes.
